A biblical children’s story was so not what I thought my first book would be! Noah’s Happy Day started as a fun little project that I wanted to do for my first grandson. Even though he stays far away, my idea was to write a story that I could read to him on a video call. In my mind we could sit together and I’d make up tales about a cheerful little boy named Noah. The simplest things make him happy, his family, toys, Minnie the Labrador, and the new house his parents just bought (Praise the Lord!).
But, as I saw the words take shape, I felt led to create something with a deeper meaning, more than a simple bedtime distraction. My goal was for him to understand the love of family. At the same time I wanted to introduce him to Jesus, and His unconditional love. – and so this became a biblical children’s story
A Passion Project

Writing Noah’s Happy Day became a passion project for me. In today’s rushed world, the quiet moments before a child falls asleep is the perfect time for moms and dads to bond and connect with their little one. It is not only a time to share the wonders of storytelling, but to look at the values parents want to instill in their little ones. Family values and faith should be at the core of everything we do, and I wanted Noah’s Happy Day to reflect that.
Now, here’s the twist in the tale. Publishing this story as a book was never on my radar. In fact, I must give credit to my editor and the sunshine that brightens my days and calms me in my storms, Lizette. She’s my brilliant mind and my sharpest critic. She took it on herself to publish Noah’s Happy Day – while I was (as usual) completely clueless. I will always be grateful for her proactive spirit, as I am a bit of a procrastinator myself.
That said, I guess I would have rewritten every word a hundred times if I had ‘publishing’ in mind. On top of taking time to get my butt in the saddle, I tend to overthink things more than what people call ‘healthy’. So, imagine how surprised I was to get an e-mail from Amazon with a publish date (August 7, 2024) for “my book”! Thank you, Lizette!
My First Children’s Story

Creating my first children’s story was an exciting journey. My inspiration came from the love and laughter that Noah shares with his parents, Francois and Morgan. Bedtime stories are more than just a way to get kids to sleep – they’re an opportunity to teach them about life, love, and the world. In Noah’s Happy Day, I want to show that happiness isn’t found in grand adventures or expensive toys. It’s found in the warmth of a family, in the little moments of joy that make life special. And of course none of this is possible without our glorious Maker leading the way, all the glory to Jesus.
When you read Noah’s Happy Day, I pray that you will feel the love and care that went into every word. May it be more than just another book on your shelf or in your Kindle library. It is meant to be a part of your kiddies’ bedtime routine, a children’s book to enjoy together, night after night.
